Bangers - sausages, Mash - mashed boiled potatoes.

Fry the sausages until brown on all sides. Meantime, peel sufficient potatoes, cut each potatoe into two or four pieces, depending on size. Bring to the boil in slightly salted water then simmer until soft (about 25 minutes). Strain off water. Mash. Add a little milk if you fancy it. Stick the sausages at angles in the mash, serve with peas, (mushy peas if available). Pepper and salt if necessary........ A little gravy would not go amiss......... absolutely beautiful........

Yes, it's sausages and mashed potatoes!! And it tastes best with gravy!!!

You have to use proper British sausages though - those pre-cooked continental sausages are not the same thing at all!

No-one is "skilled" in UK dishes. It's the war's fault. Did you know they still had rationing in Britain for YEARS after the war was over?

They're still trying to get over it. That's not to say there are no good cooks in Britain at all, but I think she's on holiday in Benidorm this month!
