Every STD is different.

The initial outbreak for genital herpes is about 2-14 days. I had mine about three weeks after being exposed.

With Syphilis, there are different stages. The first stage you get a painless open sore called a chancre, which appears between 1-30 days usually.

HIV can take 6-12 months to show up on a test.

Talk to your doctor about being tested if you are really concerned. Good luck!

You may never know if you have an STD. People walk around daily not knowing and have numerous partners and spread the virus or bacteria. You never know if the person you are sleeping with has slept with someone that had and std. If you have never had symptoms, or have, it is a good idea to be checked.
Get checked once a year at your local health dept. or family doctor. At Health Dept's, their services are free or very cheap. And confidential!!! Just remember......That one person you had sex with has slept with 5 people that have slept with 5 a PIECE, thats alot of people to be clean! And it goes on and on and on...........

if you think you might have an std. you should go to your doctor immediately, They will check you out and let you know. Don't just wait until something shows up. Some STDs dont do anything on the outside. SO you wont know if you have one unless you get yourself checked out my a doctor.
