Salad Theme is okay, there are a million and one salads to be made. A good potato salad combines, baby red skin potatoes, parsley, fresh cooked green beans, extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. It's awesome! A good pasta salad, is bow-tie pasta, with green beans, carrots, and sun-dried tomato dressing. But if you decide the salad theme is not for you, a tea party theme is cute for a shower. Tea sandwiches, and there are so many new kinds of tea out there. You can even rent teapots, and cups from housewares stores sometimes. It's not expensive, and it's really cute. Especially if it's in a garden or outside.

If you really want a salad theme..... try having a buffet-type lunch at home with different salad toppings - eggs, nuts, veggies, noodles, chicken, etc. Or - trying making an appointment at a teahouse or tea room. Many tea places will have a high tea service for $10 a person, which will include endless pot of tea, scones and sauces, veggies and fruit trays, tea sandwiches, mini desserts and petit fours, and other things. On the invitation, ask everyone to wear an old fashioned hat. The bride will love it!

Here's 2 great refreshing recipes that is filling and not expensive.
I modified the menu to feed 20
CHICKEN SPINACH SALAD
14 bunch fresh spinach washed and dried, or cheat and get 10 pkg of the prewashed ones at the market
10 chicken- boneless breast, grilled or boiled, then diced and chilled.
10 cup dried cranberries
10 cup chopped pecans or walnuts or both.
5 cup sunflower seeds, or put on side
10 cup feta cheese
any viniagrette dressing
Mix ingredients together and add dressing right before serving. Best serve chilled. Goes great with a glass of iced tea!

10 cabbage, finely sliced
12 avocado, ripe, peeled and diced
12 bunch cilantro/coriander, finely diced
10 large tomato diced

5 fresh jalapenos, seeds removed then diced
Mayo
salt/pepper to taste
Add the cabbage, then the cilantro, tomato, celery / onion, jalapeno and a dash of salt/pepper.
Add the avocado then 2 -3 cup of mayo or just enough to moisten to your taste. Mix well.

go to www.pamperedchef.com - they are a company that sells all kinds of cooking and kitchen stuff thru home parties. The site will hook you up w/ a rep in your area, then let her know what you are thinking w/ the salad theme. Then, they come to the house and demo stuff, everyone buys what they want, and the guest of honor gets all the credits and freebies to furnish her kitchen! They are loads of fun.

That is an interesting idea. You can (if you are talented like that) cut the radishes or other vegies into shapes like roses and hearts. you can play a game were everyone has to come up with a way to finish a sentence like lettuce is like marriage because.....
I cant think of anything else, but that is such a fun unique idea. I love it.
