If you are bringing a lady out for drinks and you are the guy, you should pay or at least make an offer to buy. Some women get touchy about that stuff, but for the most part we like our drinks bought for us on dates. If she insists on paying make a deal with her and say that you will, for example, pick up dinner on the next date or buy drinks at your next stop of the evening. The next date line lets her know that you would like to see her again, that is if you want to see her again!:-) good luck!

All although i'm from the Netherlands, i don't be attentive to what "going for a dutch" potential. For something of the question: sure you're able to pay for the 1st date, it shows her which you have manners and which you're keen to shelter her. If the date went ok and in case you 2 proceed to date then you definately purely circulate 50-50 on the money area of issues:)

I think one factor hasn't been taken into consideration here so far: The relative "wealth" of the two parties. When one person has distinctly more cash on his or her hands I think it's nice for this person to at least offer to pay. But if both are equally well off (or broke ;-) ) then I think going dutch or taking turns (as in whoever paid on one date will be the "guest" on the next) is a better way of dealing with it.

Before I go on the date I ask, Are you taking me out? That is an automatic no pay for anything except the tip. I always pay for the tip if I am being taken out.

I only go dutch if a lack of cash is present between both of you.

Lastly, my rule is any date I go on, I always have money on me if it goes down like that.

sexist bunch. Why should the man pay. If a bloke said something like that he'd be right in the shite. Go dutch it should be equal in every way from the start. If you expect the man to pay don't complain about being chained to the sink in ten years time. Bloody double standards.

I think on a first date, maybe the first few, the man should pay. Maybe after a couple of dates, the woman should offer to pay at least some. I think it depends on people really.

As much as women want and deserve equality in pretty much everything, when it comes to paying for a date, taking out the trash, and killing bugs, they seem to like inequality. Pay for the date or they will call you cheap and you may not get another date.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd say the gentleman pays for everything. Although if a lady absolutely insists it may be appropriate for her to pay for a drink or 2.

In general, I believe that whomever does the asking should foot the bill, but from a first-date standpoint, I'm going to remain traditional and say that the guy should pay.

i liked to say its still nice to be treated like a lady and the man pays but it seems that in this day and age if you go out for a drink it doesnt really matter who pays because no one can remember in the morning anyway!!!
