You need to notify your doctor of this, and if you are having trouble breathing right now, go to the ER immediately.

Are you seeing a specialist? If not make an appt. We just saw our allergy and asthma specialist yesterday. He prescribed Advair for my son who has asthma. He was talking about how untreated asthma can cause "lung remodeling" and can cause emphasema in the long run. We had been carrying around the albuterol inhaler, just in case he started to cough or wheeze, but he never did. A test at the office showed that his breathe flow was diminished even though he showed or felt no signs of it. So it is very, very, important to be under a Dr.'s care when it comes to your respiratory issues.

Many inhalers take time to benefit you, such as Advair, Atrovent, Serevent, and others. Prednisone also can facilitate breathing by reducing inflammation, but it has many negative side effects, thus is prescribed only if necessary. Albuterol, the "rescue" inhaler should help your breathing by opening the airways. If you use Albuterol, and it isn't helping you, then you should see your doctor, or go to the emergency room if you are in distress.

Sit down and talk to your doctor about this - you may need different doses or completely different medication. If you are having continuous difficulty breathing, go to the hospital ASAP. Nothing is worse than feeling like you are unable to breathe.

My mom had a horrible time with her asthma. Her regular doctor couldn't help any further, so he sent her to a specialist. Wow!!! You would not believe the difference it made!!!!!!!! If you have not seen a specialist and are relying on your regular doctor, perhaps you need to go see one.
