I bought a bag of carrots today. When I opened the container and began removing the carrots, I noted that most of them felt slippery, even somewhat slimey. Although I was able to rinse them off to the point that they felt normal again, I was wondering if eating them might be unwise. Other than this particular problem, the veggies are nice and firm, seeming to have no other defect...no visible signs of mold, etc.

When they have been in the "slime" stage, it is best to steam or boil them before you eat them. The heat will "sweat out" many remaining toxins in the root. Carrots are a root & they tend to pick up their toxins directly from the soil & water they are grown in!

They are O.K.

The "slippery" will wash right off. Wash them under cold running water and they will feel fine.
