My friend told me some of the symptoms for diabetes are being thirsty and going to the bathroom often.
After learning that water if good for you, I drink at least 5-6 bottles (Poland Spring .5L) a day and I go to the bathroom a LOT
could this mean I have diabetes?
and can someone tell me what other symptoms there are/

If you are drinking 5-6 1/2 liter bottles of water a day you should be urinating frequently. I highly doubt you have diabetes. Being thirst and urinating because you are drinking so much often are signs of dehydration as well. If you are still uncertain have a doctor run a simple blood test. The odds are that you are not a diabetic.

Are you thirsty or are you drinking that much because you heard that water is good for you? Being thirsty is a symptom of diabetes but it could be other factors too. Do yourself a favor and go get checked out by a doctor and have some blood tests done. There is no need in getting yourself all worked up for what could be nothing. Have your doctor do blood tests and then see if you have it or not. If you don't, GREAT don't worry about it, but if you do, DON'T FRET, there are ways to manage your diabetes in healthy constructive ways. Good luck!

Going to the bathroom a lot is not a problem unless you get up more than 3 times at night, only then is that a symptom. However if you are losing weight without trying, are tired all the time, or get grouchy easily. go have a doctor do a blood test to make sure.

You could have alot of urine just from the water. The above mentioned symptoms meet much criteria at the medical level. The important thing: DOES ANYBODY IN YOUR FAMILY HAVE IT? It seems to prevail on the DNA double helix. It runs in families. I sure wouldn't wait for simple testing to rule it out. Also, until you make it to the appointment, there is much on diabetes as a sounding board for your concerns. The thing is don't wait.

Have you lost a signifigant amount of weight?
Do you look skeltal?
Are you always hungry?
Do you wake up in the middle of the night to use the toilet more than one time?
Are your hands/feet more chapped than normal?

If you have any of these other symptoms, or are just generally concerned, I recommend that you go to your doctor, and get a blood test. I hope that you're just thirsty, and not diabetic.

there is only one sure way to find out and thats going to the doctor and they can perform an a1c test to find out what your glucose levels has been for the last 2-3 months. just having a few symptoms doesnt mean you have this deadly disease for this disease that i have isnt nothing to play with it can and will kill you if you let it so go to your care provider and get this test done the life you might save could be your own

It's possible, but it sounds more likely that your body is just responding to the amount of water you are putting inot it. If you are truly thirsty and need to drink that much and you are peeing a lot and you are very tired much of the time then I would say it's time for a checkup. Cound't hurt!!!
