And how are you handling it? Is it a big deal for you or not? Did you tell your partner or do you plan to?

SO many people have HPV. Doctors predict that about 80% of the population will have the virus and most will never know it. It is a big deal for some people and not for others. It depends a lot on what type you have. If you have the type that causes genital warts or cervical cancer it is a lot more serious. Most strains of the virus have no signs and that is why the majority if people never know they have it.
HPV has a different affect on everyone. No two people have the exact same reaction. I know people that have told their partners. Everyone has a different reaction. A lot of people have a bad reaction becuse they are not educated about the virus and think its nasty and that you're a slut. Most likely this is not the case but thats what so many people think. Some people once they understand the virus, don't mind that their partner has it and continue having a great relationship. Of course, they will always be aware that they may catch the virus. For most men though, it will never do anything to them and the need to realize that. Women must be more careful and get paps at least every year or 6 months.
Personally i think it is important to tell your new partners. Since it is hard to determine who the virus came from, I don't feel it is 100% necessary to tell them. Of course if you have only had one partner you should tell them because you know they gave it to you. It is a personal choice whether you tell everyone you have slept with or not. Do what feels right to you :) Just remember how bad you would feel if you gave hpv to a future partner through casual sex and they passed it to another woman. Go with your gut feeling on all you do and don't do anything you will regret! Hope this helps. I wish you the best!

I have HPV and it doesn't bother me for the most part. I've read 75%-80% of the world will have HPV during their life and most don't even know it. It is the most common STD, that is why it is spread so easily from person to person.

There are at least 30 kinds (I've read there are between 30-100). Most kinds don't do anything, however some can cause genital warts, cervical cancer, and rectal cancer. I have had both genital warts and cervical cancer. I've been treated for both, and luckily neither has come back.

I have a fiance and he knows I have HPV, he also has it, so it really isn't an issue with us.
