For the most part people are usually pretty accepting about it. I told my boyfriend at the time (now fiance) that I have genital herpes and he was completely understanding about it. Of course he wanted to know if he could get it and how, and how it is treated, etc. So after some long talks he has come to accept it and the fact that someday he might get it.
I've never had a bad experience when telling someone I was dating that I have genital herpes. They usually just ask a lot of questions. It might be different though for a deadly STD like HIV/AIDS, since I don't have HIV/AIDS, I'm not sure how someone would react if their partner told them they have it.

Get to know the person first. Dont say anything like on the first date. Be friends first and tell the person after you have been dating for a few mounths, then the person will have more of a decisionion to make.

I wasnt going to tell my husband until after the tests were confirmed but I started off telling him that we needed an honest talk. Then I told him that I never cheated and asked if he did. Then I explained to him why and I was thankful that I did because he really supported me the most when I needed support.

Let them know asap....If you don't, the health department will....If syphilis goes untreated it can cause insanity and blindness......
