Cats and dogs? Unlikely. They do have other foods that are also from other countries, y'know.
Kilaw is a marinated fish salad, much like the ones they have in Tahiti and Mexico.
Adobong manok or baboy, which is chicken or pork cooked with coconut sauce.Sinigang na carne, which is sour soup of beef. Pochero which is a two course meal from one pot, much like the French pot au feu, but featuring mixed meats.
Rellenong Talong which is stuffed eggplant.
The ever populor lumpia which is like an egg roll.
Empanadas, which is meat filled pastries.Ukoy, which is a prawn and sweet potato fritters. And don't forget the ice cream! Mango, yam and to die for, buko, which is coconut ice cream.
The country is one heck of a traffic jam zone in the capital, so if you have to be on the roads alot, bring your own bottled water.
Have a nice, safe and pleasant trip.

I have no idea, but I used to work in a grocery store and whenever Spam or similar canned lunch meat went on sale for 99cents or so, Phillipino people would buy it by the case to send home to the Phillipines.

Pancit - noodles cooked with vegies and pork, chicken or seafoods.

Adobong Baboy (pork), Adobong Manok (Chicken) and also Adobong Kangkong (Swamp Cabbage) : )

Inasal (grilled) Pork or Chicken and Batchoy (egg noodles served in steaming hot pork/beef stocks with fried garlic, chicharon, chopped onion leaves and sliced steamed pork "internals" seasoned with pepper and soy sauce) are also popular especially in Iloilo, Philippines.
