I've never tried it and don't think I will 'cause the ducks are force fed, but I'm still curious about the flavor. Anyone?

Nothing special and I actually do not like it. Way overrated, very expensive in my opinion. Very fatty........nothing special. Usually comes with a truffle too.

(I don't care for over-sensitive and people who pick and choose..poultry , and all animals are treated in a cruel way..not that I agree but you have to get some perspective ).

And it is spelled foiE gras....:-) (fat liver)
Yep and like somebody pointed it is not ducks !! it is goose/geese !

PS: and you wonder why some tourists bring their bags of tea and cans of baked beans with them LOL !!!!

It is quite over rated. However, as others have suggested you can taste almost flavors in Liver Pat'e. It is extremely difficult to describe flavors. That is why you always hear people say " It tastes just like chicken " But it really tastes nothing like chicken.

I would say it tastes a little bit like liver combined with beef fat. Very smooth and velvety. If you're concerned with the way the ducks are treated, you might as well not eat any meat. Livestock in general is treated like crap, and in the end, it's slaughtered to feed us.

If you've ever eaten ordinary liver pâté, then you will know what I mean if I tell you that fois gras tastes like an EXTREMELY strong liver pâté!!!

It's very rich and not particularly nice. I think most so called delicacys are invented by locals to torment the tourists

If it's done properly it's like manna from heaven. It melts in your mouth! Really rich flavour with a smooth texture! Yum!
