I'd tell them a couple of things.
1. A billion red Chinese don't care whether or not you beat county high this year. If you do, great. Enjoy it. Rip down the goal posts. But keep it in perspective.
2. Speaking of which, anyone you meet 5 years from now will not care that they called you Mr. Touchdown. That also goes for the prom queen, Most Popular, etc., as well. The bright side is, they're not going to care that you tanked Algebra, either.
3. Kids who haven't quite found their niche, don't sweat it. It will come, and when it does, you will be cool. Why will you be cool? Because you will no longer care if anyone thinks you're cool.
4. Peer pressure doesn't let up, but you'll handle it better.
5. Last, girls, any teenage boy who tells you he loves you is lying. I know. I was once a teenage boy.
Anyone else have any particular nuggets of wisdom to share?
Be nice, please.
