I was a guest speaker at a local high school for career day this past week. To assist in my speech, I even brought along some props and samples from the candy factory where I work.
Anyway... everything was going great until I mentioned that I packed fudge for a living.
All the kids started to laugh and point at me!
They called me a "loser" and other derogatory names. A few of them even began to throw the free fudge samples towards me.
I have never felt so ashamed and embarrassed in my life. I normally handle pressure very well and this was just too much to bare.
I just don't understand!
What's wrong with being a fudge packer?
You think I don't work HARD?
Don't you know that I sometimes have a difficult time?
I have time restraints, deadlines, rough working conditions... I always have to be on my toes! I'm no slacker or a lazy BUM!
Anyway... why were they laughing at me? What can I do to avoid this embarrassment in the future?
