I was a guest speaker at a local high school for career day this past week. To assist in my speech, I even brought along some props and samples from the candy factory where I work.

Anyway... everything was going great until I mentioned that I packed fudge for a living.

All the kids started to laugh and point at me!
They called me a "loser" and other derogatory names. A few of them even began to throw the free fudge samples towards me.

I have never felt so ashamed and embarrassed in my life. I normally handle pressure very well and this was just too much to bare.

I just don't understand!

What's wrong with being a fudge packer?

You think I don't work HARD?
Don't you know that I sometimes have a difficult time?

I have time restraints, deadlines, rough working conditions... I always have to be on my toes! I'm no slacker or a lazy BUM!

Anyway... why were they laughing at me? What can I do to avoid this embarrassment in the future?

Don't be a guest speaker in a High School and say you like "man love."

Since I know who you are I am quite sure that you are use to having people laugh at you. Even when they say they are laughing with you. I would've thought that you would have adapted to it after all these years.

Sure, but I don't know why you would want it. After all, I'm unemployed, living on the streets, IRS is after me, my past 3 employers are trying to have me arrested for embezzlement, and sexual harrassment. But, enough about me, how can I help you?

Don't mind other people. Just go on with your work and do not accept speaking engagements for the time being. lf you are proud of your work, there's no need for others' acceptance. Besides, they're just kids.

It might have had something to do with the milk mustache you were sporting. That'll teach you not to eat cookies and run!
