Topic: Explain the value of higher education as it relates to you personally

Panting heavily as sweat dripped down my back and face, I glanced up at the endless stair steps that led up to the Big Buddha Temple. If there is a stairway that could reach the heavens, it’s this one! It was difficult enough to stay out in the blazing, Hong Kong sun, but even more of a challenge for an asthmatic to climb the 286 stone steps on a scorching, humid afternoon! I stopped on the steps to take a swift break.
Every since I was a tiny sapling, sickness has always budded around me. I was born with the inability to produce the amount of red blood cells needed—giving me a paler complexion than other healthy girls. My immune system was extremely feeble, submitting to any foreign invaders—perhaps my thymus gland never got its growth spurt! My parents didn’t believe I would survive to see my third birthday. Because of my weak defense, I was known to catch at least one fever that would last about a week every year—an absolutely burning experience! I can still recollect the cold chills that ran through my veins as if I were in a freezer and the burning heat streaming from my pores that made me feel as if I were in a volcano. In addition, despite the terrible memories, I have to consume more than the usual amounts of certain prescribed drugs in order for them to be effective. This was Brenda Ng’s life as a child. While others were wearing short sleeves, I was stuck with long sleeves; while others were dressed in long sleeves, I was bundled up in a thick, woolen sweater. This was my life as a child. I never understood then why it was always me coughing and sneezing; it seemed as if the sickness liked to pick on me.
Some fevers were not hard to bear at all while others were awful, but none could be compared to the one I encountered when I was six. At first, I thought it was “another-one-of-those-annual-ones.” Unfortunately, it was more than that. Not only did I feel the freezer/volcano effect more frequently, I also had trouble holding any food or liquid down. In addition, I had a terrible headache; I almost had myself believing that miniature people holding itsy-bitsy mallets climbed inside my head and started pounding on it! To make matters “the worst,” I began to gasp for air. How much worse can it get? I remember thinking, I already feel like I have been thrown into a freezer then a volcano later; I have little people banging inside my head, and now, I can’t even breathe normally like the other kids! I sprawled on the bathroom floor, tears welling in my eyes; this was the first time I had ever cried over being ill. Immediately, Mom drove me to a local hospital. That evening, my body temperature rose to frightening 107°F—a perfect temperature for the hot springs in Japan but certainly not for the body of a six-year-old! Mom panicked; she was afraid that I would never be the same again. Luckily, my temperature didn’t rise any higher; however, I had to remain in the hospital for a week. And did anyone mention needles? For that whole week, a nurse would come into my room, and poke holes in my skin—or injections as I later learned it—three times a day! Ever since that pricking experience, I became, and still am, a little anxious when I know I’m about to experience something like that again. After I recovered from that dreadful fever, my family doctor diagnosed me with allergy asthma—a serious case, too! No more plush-stuffed animals. No more running without shortness of breath.
Nevertheless, there was a good in this misfortune. As a six-year-old sapling, I decided with full determination that my future career would be that of a doctor. I told myself that “I will study real hard and be a doctor to fight against my arch enemy: the sickness.” And my goal has never changed since the day my head became a one-week walking hot spring!

I've changed my name too many times now that it's getting annoying. First Crimson Fox, then Madd Doctor, Z, and now Crimson Fox v.2. Should I stay with version 2 or get another name that more suits my persona?
