Before I studied the Earth's satellite images, I wondered if there could be a hidden island filled with pirates and dinosaurs.
Before I studied biology and psychology, I believed my dog had human thoughts and emotions.
Before I studied logic and philosophy, I believed in all manner of religious and supernatural phenomena.
Before I studied human interaction, I believed in fairytale romances.
The list goes on.
It just makes me wonder about everything I've learned, all the knowledge I've sought. I was happier and hopeful when my world was filled with mystery and magic. All I've gotten for my trouble is a bit of smugness and a hollow sense of being right.
My question to you (at least those of you who drive yourselves toward knowledge) is this: Is it better to live as an awestruck fool, or as someone wise and disenchanted?
