What are some essential chords to learn after you learn the minor and major chords, and where can I find chord progressions?

I've been suffering 2 weeks just to find this song. I heard it on the fm radio station and recorded it to my mobile phone. The song was played with an acoustic guitar and the genre is more likly alternative, it is just a slow song.. the line in the chorus goes like this. "THINGS BEEN GOOD TO ME GOOD THINGS PASS MY WAY" and in the end of the song. "BUT I KNOW ALL THIS TIME IT HAS BEEN WASTED"

Do you know this song? They play it on TV all the time. I think its been on the OC and its definitely been on Scrubs. Its very intense and depressing but REALLY good. Any clue?

it is a 80's song, and I could only remember the first line of the song, and part of the chorus. The first line is: last night i had the strangest dream. The chorus goes something like : ain't nobody going to take my stride, ain't nobody going to pull me down. oh no i got to keep it movin.

I have played the violin for about 6 years now and am still playing, so I am familiar with music. I would like to teach myself how to play the acoustic guitar, does any one have any recomendations for a book to use, or a book serise to use? Also, does the guitar music use treble clef? Thanks!

ok ive just started to learn the major chords i.e. A , E , and D.
the problem is im not too fast switching between these chords... infact i should include that i put my fingers one by one on the strings... please advise me on how i can increase my speed switching between these chords.. or for that matter switching chords in general.. thanks!!
