I think that's a little broad in scope, don't you?

I nominate any of these songs.

Best selling single: Elton John - Candle In The Wind (Diana Tribute)
Greatest chart single: Bing Crosby - White Christmas (was in Top 40 longer than any song on the pop charts until 1978, beat out by I Go Crazy by Paul Davis)
Greatest international single: Anne Murray - You Needed Me (#1 in 13 countries)
Greatest country crossover single: Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down To Georgia (his Greatest Hits package is consistently in the Top Ten recurrent album charts every year)

I won't name a metal or rap/R&B or Christian song or show tune. I won't even check the most popular ring tones! I'll just leave the list right there and say everyone has their own way to choose.

I nominate as my own choice the Collin Raye song, The Eleventh Commandment. You'll have to hear that one to believe it.
