Can anyone tell me about the copyright laws concerning recording a remake of a song with the same music but with different lyrics? I once heard a remake of the song "Walk Like An Egyptian" by The Bangles on Christian radio station KLOVE but it had different lyrics and was entitled "Walk Like A Christian." I've been searching for this song for ages but it seems impossible to find.
This is the best description i can give from the snippet i heard:
It's a sad song, and sounds as if it may not have any words. There's this woman singing in kind of an operatic voice, but not with as much energy you'd expect to hear in an opera.
If you hear it it just sounds like hopelessness, but it is powerful and moving.
It's one of those songs that you've probably heard but you wouldn't know the name of the song. It's more like a backdrop song.
I've been trying to look for a video on YouTube that uses the song but i still can't find anything.

I hope you can make sense of my description and any suggestions would be cool :)

Me and a few of my friends were dancing along to Lou Bega's "Mambo No.5" the other day and my friend (Nicola) said "it doesnt have my name in" I said, "Thats ok, babe. I'll google a song for you with your name in" I have spent the last 45 minutes looking for a song but I can't find one anywhere!!

When I was a senior in high school, I would hear this certain song on KLOS in L.A. I never knew the name or the artist.
