Little dude, give it some time. Seriously, that crap will hurt your brain at your age. It will actually change the development of neuro-pathways and increase your chances of becoming an alcoholic later in life. Believe me, that is a burden you don't want to carry. As an alcoholic who started drinking at your age, I can tell you that it sucks to struggle every day to force myself to stay away from alcohol at the risk of death or worse.
But to answer your question... it does taste like crap. It's one of those things that is an "acquired" taste. It usually starts tasting better because your brain tells you it is making you feel better, so it must taste good. The reality is, if it tastes like crap, it must be crap. And although it may make you feel better at first, it is pure poison for the body and will cause all kinds of health problems.
Good luck to you! Stay away from the stuff until you are legal. You will be much better off, and you will have plenty of time to experiment when you are physically mature enough to deal with it.

you have to develop an appreciation for liquor straight up like that. I am 23 and still can't drink whiskey straight. I wouldn't expect a 14 year old to like it. Some day i hope to be able to drink Scotch straight up. Once you get used to the general taste of something, you begin to notice the subtle differences. I had to get used to beer, now it's great. I'm working on wine.
Don't drink a lot so young, tasting is fine. But when you get to college, you can drink a lot and learn all kinds of stuff.

Oh no, the taste doesn't change with age. It changes with how much you drink. Also some just taste REALLY bad, and others taste good.

First of all WHY are you drinking (or even trying to) if you are just 14? Be Smarter than that! DON'T DRINK! There's a legal age for it for a Reason! (Even some Adults can't handle the Responsibility!)
Your father has developed a taste for whatever alcohol he was drinking.
In time, and with moderation, you will know what preferences you hav, but for now, GO TO SCHOOL! (and good luck, sweeti)

Some people like to drink it straight. Me, I like bourbon and coke, some people like it will orange juice, (strange, I know), but that is why there are so many different alcoholic beverages. Everyones taste is different. I have drank the same thing for 10 years now. Some people will drink different drinks ethier on different occasions or in the same sitting. You will find a drink that you like when you are a bit older.
