oddly enough ... if you have the dedication, here's the best way that worked for me to lose weight..

The Body for Life diet plan - just the foods, it helps you pick and choose which combination of food goes good with each other to help you lose weight. You don't have to spend much more money than you do now, you just have to put a little more time and effort into preparing your meals. It does recommend you works out, and has a workout routine for you however I could never stick to those.. I simply just walked 30 mins a day, then moved it to 30 mins twice a day until I felt I could just simply jog...

You can go online to bodyforlife.com and it will give you meal ideas, you dont have to buy anything.. This was the first time ever I was able to lose the weight and keep it off... I didn't have to STOP eating, or eat pre made foods, or count any points.. those never lasted.. this one rocks, you eat 6 times a day (this is where the dedication comes in) ... again the hardest part for me was planning the meals, nothing major or drastic, but with my school/work schedule, it took alot for me to stick to it rather than just doing the easy fast food stop on the way home....

I lost 65lbs in 7 months and my doctors said though it was rapid, I did it very healthy and natural so it didn't cause any physical problems.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

The best thing to do is not diet. Diets are temporary and always fail because it is not a lifestyle change.

Park at the end of the lot when you go shopping. Walk whenever possible instead of driving. Take stairs instead of elevators.

Replace sodas (even diet) with water. Slowly replace things in your diet with healthier substitutions. Eat smaller portions. You can still go out, but when you order your food ask for a take out container at the beginning. Then put half your food in it and then eat. When you leave the restaurant, leave the container.

Most importantly, when you crave something, eat it. You don't have to have a huge portion, but you do have to have some satisfaction or you will eat other things trying to satisfy that urge and then end up eating the desired item and that is more calories than eating it to begin with.

Do housework. It may sound nuts, but years ago people didn't have this big a problem with weight. They had daily life to keep them trim. Make a game of it. See how many things you can clean in your home in 30 minutes to an hour. Do it daily. Not only will you lose weight, you will have a clean home. I know I vacuum and dust every day that I cannot get out due to weather. I also don't use the dishwasher, modern conveniences are nice but they make us lazy. I use my energy and wash them by hand.

And as far as exercise equipment and not being able to afford it, go to freecycle. Join the group in your area. After offering up some of the things you have around your home that you no longer use, you can ask if anyone has some working exercise equipment that they no longer need or want. It is a great place to get gently used items at no cost. But always take someone with you when you go to pick up an item and always let one other person know where you are going. I have never had any problems giving items and have never asked for anything but you might want to exercise some caution in this age of internet creeps.

You don't need money or equipment. Get your tennis shoes out and walk or run every day for 30 minutes or so (if you are just starting out, start out with a brisk walk). There are some fitness shows on television that you could tape to work out with later if you want to do that.

Watch what you eat. Eat more veggies and fruit and avoid white grains (white bread, white rice, white tortillas) and opt for whole wheats. Watch portions. Eat several small meals a day as opposed to the standard 3. Some of these can be snacks of nuts or fruits. Check out the weight watchers website, or you can get books on that from the library as well that might help you. Good luck...it's a great goal to have!

Okay - here I go I am going to ramble on now:
Something that is really cheap is read the ingredients in what you are putting in your mouth - and make sure sugar or glucose or any of the other nick names for sugar isn't in the top 4, this really helped me. It is amazing all the places you find sugar. Try to only eat potatoes if the skin is on them so your body can digest it better - or drop them, cut back on noodles and rice - they act sort of like fillers. Drink more water, eat more fruit and vegetables, at least red meat the size of the palm of your hand once every three days. Walking a brisk walk 20 to 30 minutes a day is cheap - and can be done in malls on cold days. The minute you get up in the morning try a teaspoon of lemon in a glass of water to get your metabolism going ( I heard it works), eat one minute 100% oats (with NO FILLERS- read ingredients) for breakfast sprinkled with cinnamon sprinkled on them (cooked of course). KEEP GOING, just because you'll lose weight doesn't mean you have to stop watching what you eat, again, be aware of what you put in your mouth and don't eat anything except a glass of water after 7:30 at night. Hope you find these ideas helpful - not proven - but ideas I have picked up over the last 15 years, not proven, just read in different articles and heard over and over and decided to try...great for maintenance also. Good luck, I know it is difficult especially at first when you are not feeling the healthiest and excercising can be exhausting...it will get easier.

I would first start by walking 20-30min. a day. You could break this up into two or three ten min. sessions. You could also start doing some crunches and weight lifting-try using water bottles or something of that sort if you don't have any weights at home. It's also important to eat healthy. Like eating foods high in fiber and protein and even the junk food is ok, but only in moderation. You don't have to follow a strict plan right from the start. Start by taking away one unhealthy thing a week and substitute it for a healthy one. Best of luck to you!!

Good for you. Maybe I can be inspired by you to also do my suggestion to you. I could lose a few plus pounds too.

Start off by going for walks. You can slowly speed up your pace (for Cardiovascular). You can also do palates. It strengthens and tones you all over. My friend lost weight doing that and doing a cardiovascular workout. She also watched what she ate. She didn't eat any fried foods and didn't eat as many carbs. You also need cardiovascular workout at least 3 times a week for about 30 min each time. Ask your doctor to see if whatever you decide is a good one for you and your body.

Best wishes to you and may God Bless you as you lose the weight you are desiring to lose. Happy New Year.

I did weight watchers on line (still do to maintain), it is 16.95 a month and I lost 79.5 pounds 5 yrs ago. They have free work outs on the site and the truth is that dancing like a crazy person in your own home for 1/2 hour at a time 3or4 days a week is great exercise.

Check it out and good luck!

Take it slow. Make healthy decisions when chosing meals. Try to get a couple sessions of 20-30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise a week. Don't try to change your whole life in one day. Find a way to keep your regular routine with small steps towards good health.

Tae Bo, you can find them pretty inexpensive through amazon and people selling them, I bought a whole set with 2 DVD's and 6 workouts for $20 and that was with shipping! I love Tae Bo!
