Hi. You'll love Iceland! I love it so much I've been there twice in the past four years. Here are the places I recommend.

1) The Blue Lagoon-a geothermal spa composed of volcanic water. It feels heavenly. It's located a 1/2 hour southeast of Reykjavik.

2) The Golden Circle Tour- it goes from Reykjavik to the beautiful Gulfoss Falls, a volcanic crater, a greenhouse, a small church, Geysir National Park(with geysers and geothermal features) and Thingvellir National Park(of historical and scenic interest.)

3) The southshore tour from Reykjavik to the village of Vik-a distance of 150 miles. You'll see waterfalls, glaciers, beaches, farmland, and lava cliffs.

4) The Perlan in Reykjavik. It's a building on a hill perched atop four geothermal tanks. It has great views of the city, a revolving restaurant, a snack bar, and The Saga Museum.

Have a nice trip! Also go on Icelandair. com for other ideas. The tours I took were associated with Icelandair.

The answerer above me listed the most popular places near Reykjavík and they are very interesting to see. If you will have more time in Iceland and plan to travel a bit more, then I recommend following road no. 1 around Iceland. That's a nice trip for around 10 days with a lot to see on the way. You would see several beautiful waterfalls on the way, beautiful mountains, glaciers and fjords. Lake Mývatn in north-east Iceland and the area around are also truly beautiful.
