I think the reason you don't see too many adult-sounding responsible questions is probably because those people have actually done their own research.
I think I've asked 6 questions since I've been on Yahoo Answers. I only ask when I can't find anything on a subject that I've already tried to research quite a bit. If I can't find the answer, I ask a question. Sometimes I get a decent answer, or a link to an informative website that I hadn't been able to find before.
Most of the time though, I get very basic guesses from people who don't know what they're talking about. But, that's okay, this is a free site and it's worth it if I only get a good reference site to use now and then.
I'm glad the kids and less-informed sounding people ask questions here. Sometimes, they actually learn something and also learn to look beyond what for instance, a cat food bag says on the cover. Just ignore the frivolous little questions. I answer them from time to time myself.
I just think it's a shame when someone asks a question, gets a bunch of really informed answers with reference links included and still chooses someone who agrees with their previous opinion.. THAT bothers me a lot more then a stupid question. Then, not only did they ask a stupid question, they stuck their head in the sand like an ostrich and didn't learn anything either. That bothers me a lot more then a few silly questions.

There are places like that.they're called CHAT ROOMS. there are many breed specific ones so you can ask and answer questions from others with your own dog breed. I found it really helpful when I found myself babysitting my neighbors pitbull for 10- 12 hrs a day every day. I had never owned a pit before and had no idea just how tiring they can be to have around or how stubborn.Discipline was not much of a problem but when he wanted to go for a ride in my car I could not get him away from it.And finding activities both he and my 2 german shepherds could enjoy was sometimes a challenge since they love to swim and pits don't.
If you really want to know something and need the CORRECT answer you go to the owners. they can tell you their experiences and steer you in the right direction.

Actually I am setting up a website (already have the domain names) sometime in the near future to be a "dear abby" type of website... Sections on dog care, training, breeding, buying, puppymills, bybs, animal rights psychos, animal welfare, BSL, legislation.... And of course a Q&A section that only intelligent people can answer on, dictated by me MUAHAHAHAHA. I would love to get some of the intelligent and respectable/responsible dog owners on here to help with this and share their input... Kind of like a YA question with ONLY knowledgeable people answering, no trolls, no "name my puppy" , and lots of links. I love they varying opinions on here and even if we disagree there are many here who have valuable input. I'm working on it, sometime soon I'll be contacting people. This will be a free use website, probably paid for by advertising or something.
Actually if anyone is interested email me... I would love to start putting a list of contributors.
domain name is K9QandA.com or CanineQandA.com which redirects you to the first...

Honestly, I skip over the questions about "what should I name my dog" and stuff like that. My biggest complaint is that people fail to use the spell checker on here and lack good grammar skills. Sometimes I learn things on here by reading the answers others have left to what seems like a simple question. I've been around animals all my life-horses, goats, dogs, cats, etc.-and I learn something new everytime I log on.

How about the questions that say, "My dog has been vomiting for three days and can't eat or drink anything, what should I do?" These infuriate me, because obviously the person asking the question is intelligent enough to type, right?

Sounds a bit elitist to me! Some people are actually trying to learn from you. If you help one person or save one dog wouldn't that make you feel a little bit good about helping. Yes some of the questions annoy me, I skip over them. Problem solved. After all this is called Yahoo ANSWERS.

totally agree. and i am 16. so its not just "children" its simply stupid people who ruin anything good for everyone.
my biggest pet peeve is when people think they can mix two random dogs and just create a breed like its some new invention and sell it for like $1,000. Its a mixed breed people. Mutt. Sorry to break it to you, but designer breeds are foolish. Dogs will be dogs, lets not make them money making objects with silly names. shrug. maybe a little off topic but your comment about the "Chipoodlebugdalmationpit" made me laugh lol.

Way to go Janey, I agree with you, there are plenty of adults on this site, and if someone needs help, that is alittle inexperienced, let them ask for help, isn't that what this site is all about, helping each other and having fun doing it...if you don't like the questions, then I guess you can go to another part of the Yahoo answers, we like it here..........
Happy New Year
