That wasn't me. I stole the question from a friend of mine--he doesn't mind.

That's a grandparents prerogative! We get to spoil the kids, then give them back to the parents! My kids grandparents did it too!

I think it depends on what your definition of a spoiled child is. To me, a spoiled child is one who is given EVERYTHING...and doesn't appreciate it, who is never reprimanded for bad behavior, and who is never told NO.

I don't think grandparents, at least not most of them, do this.

My children's grandparents buy them all kinds of extravagant toys, take them on trips, let them have more sweets than they would be allowed at home, and do all of that so called "spoiling", yet my kids are not spoiled. The appreciate the gifts they are given, and never just "expect" them.

It's a great perk of being a grandparent. We have already raised our kids, disciplined them, put them through school, etc. Now we get to do what our grandparents did to us--spoil them rotten and then hand them back to the parents! It is more of a joy being a grandparent because your kids get to do the hardest part--teaching them right from wrong and just overall raising them. Grandkids are such a joy to grandparents that they can't help but spoil them.

It's one of the perks of being a grandparent. Parents will get to do it to their kid's children, so it all evens up in the end.

I love it when my parents and in laws spoil my kids. It really helps that grandparent/grandchild relationship alot. It's seriously part of it.

You just asked this question.
I love it when my dad spoils my son. I don't object.
