I have a few red candles, a red throw and a red lantern hanging in th corner. It still looks incomplete. What else could I add? Links would be really helpful. Thanks!

I can't get too wild. I'm going to be selling this house next year, or I'd paint one of the walls red.

BTW, the lantern is beaded.

I have a brand new oak bed with a matching dresser and chest.

Maybe, I was a little confusing. I'm NOT painting the room again. I just painted it "Pecan Sandie" and I love the color.

Pillow shams and throw pillows can make a big statement.

Think about using a little black in addition to the red. Black helps make colors pop.

If you are handy with a sewing machine you can create a lot of custom impact with a small budget.

My spare room is similar to what you've described. I've painted the walls a warm brown (similar to a cup of hot chocolate), with white crown moulding. The bedspread is a dark red with white and beige throw pillows, beige and tan sheets.

Accessories on the chest of drawers include a wire basket where the top part (about a two-inch trim) is red metal, a small Navajo rug that is mostly red colors, and a small, wooden tree-like thing that has tiny red stars in it. Also, there is a long red shelf (dark red with a wood stain applied to age it) along one wall, with books and a few knick-knacks (a heavy, cream-colored fleur-de-lis filial, a couple candles).

I also have two prints from a private reading by Ursula K. Leguin from the Lewis and Clark College in Portland. The prints have a dark red design one one half of each page, and are matted with cream and framed in black.

If you would have painted the one wall red, I think it would have been too much.

We had to replace sink in downstairs bathroom. Decided to pain it med. beige or a tad darker. Had already been working with black and red. Decided on a smaller sink unit without draws, but open on the bottom. Frame of sink is black and frame of mirror is black. When 1st saw the sink, I already knew what I would do, to compensate for loss of drawers.

When all was ready, I got busy. I'd previously purchased a arched white wicker shelf unit. Had this in another room and moved into backroom. Also purchased small, three shelf wicker shelf for side of sink for hand lotion and the like.

Now got started on arched wicker shelf unit. Found a pair of red, open back, high hea shoes. They're red velvet., Found two red silk flowers (actually hair berets) & put on high end of shoes. Everything and anything on that shelf unit, including the self unit, were all purchased at 2nd hand stores or antique stores. Not everything in antique stores is antique. Small wicker side shelf unit was also purchased at 2nd hand store.

Found (6) pairs of mini high heal shoes. Put them on top of old hand held mirror. Each are different styles & colors. Love those shoes. Silk flowers of various colors. Old ceramic soap dish & put necklace on & around. So and so forth.

Large glass, black framed poster of (1) tulip, found at Goodwill. Other black framed in class prints or pictures with red content. Used round brown wicker covered containers under sink for supplies & such, mostly for quests.

You can use what you want to. If I see an unusual piece of material (used) I buy it. Will eventually use it somewhere. It can be draped over chair, mirror, table, you name it.

The fun is in the hunt & then putting it all together. Accents are the name of the (fun) game.

Throw some black in. It always goes with red. Silk flowers are one of the best inventions since the wheel.

Go for it, but most of all have fun.
Small question with one of my BIG answers again.

Red bedhead.. Prob in a faux suede would do the trick.. if u dont like the texture then try silk or satin.. cheers:) If u dont have a bedhead you can make one out of mdf to the shape u like with a jigsaw..then place a layer of thin foam over it and then use a staple gun to attach the fabric folding it over the back. you can either attach it to the wall with a bracket etc below the line of the bed, or attach it to the bed itself. The local hardware store will give u the best advice on how to do this..

Red pillows and red drapes, maybe a few pictures with red frames or a red theme. If you have wood floors, maybe a red throw rug or two. How about a beige bedspread with red flowers?

You could add a red vase or a beige vase with red flowers. You may want a red planter with a nice leafy fern.

personally speaking I would go with a burgundy or maroon color, and make sure it is flat.
Better yet check with a local realtor as to color scheme, they can tell you what is selling in your neck of the woods, and increase the chance of a quicker sale
