So, i've been on accutane for almost 4 months now. My time on it has been the worst 4 months of my life, period. In the first two weeks I had severe back pain then that faded away after a few weeks. When I went in at 3 months I had beyond severe joint pain, and I still have now after cutting dosage in half, I have to take ibprofen 3 times a day, I cannot even slowly jog and it hurts when i walk sometimes. Its also causing me to miss a PE class next semester, which im slightly worrried about. Anyways, after 3 weeks on accutane (1st 2 weeks half dosage), my face was smooth and all the acne from what I can tell went away and I have have dark red purple scars all over my face, my face has not changed from this in over 3 months. Is accutane going to clear up these scars because it is yet to help, and is the fact that im doing half dosage and probably will be doing 1/4 dosage soon going to screw up results, because all i'm thinking is..**** accutane this is screwing up my life.

I drink over ATLEAST double the 8-10 (8oz) recommned water, i clean face twice a day, i know all the crap about that. I also know that accutane alters dna transcription to make the oil glands produce less..and up, how is that going to help scars on my face go away, im not oily and not too dry just dry dry lips wh ich is not too bad to control.

Accutane is one hella of a drug! I took it for 2 weeks and could not take the pain my face stop getting oily in the first days, but the pain was so bad i had to throw it away. Well the scars that acne left behind are scars and accutane only gets rid of the acne not the scars. They will go away with time or treatment like a laser treatment. I say stay on accutane till your 6 months are up then just let the scars fade away..
But remeber the joint pain will stay for awhile and maybe forever accutane does damage to a persons body. That damage is permanent so many i mean so many people have had side effects because of accutane. Please research more about accutane theres a website solely dedicated to teach you about the risks about accutane and people there have diaries about there treatment and photos.
Good luck but the scars are the least you should worry about they fade away.

Im not a doctor, but i believe that as long as you finished three months ago, you should be ok. ive read up on accutane and all the drug side affects say it is usually safe to become pregnant a few months after you stop using the medicine. But you have to see a doctor, but take a deep breath and relax

No, accutane will not clear up the red and purple scars. It's only supposed to stop or slow down your breakout pimples. How long is your doctor going to keep you on Accutane? My doc only gave it to me for 4 months and it greatly improved my skin. Gees, if a medication was giving me severe joint pain, I think I'd have to go off of it.

I went on Accutane on 2 different occassions. It worked wonders for me, but sorry, it's not going to make scars go away. They will fade on their own, it just takes time. I'm sorry you are having all these issues. I went back on it a second time because the first time my dose was too small and the pimples came back. I'd try to stick with it if you are serious about your skin. If you are willing to break out again, but not have the side effects of Accutane, then go for it. I think the side effects are worth it.

Don't take accutane...recently its been discovered that it screws up a lot of your system...
