I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything like that but just wondering out of curiosity at what Jews think of the rest of the Bible...

What do you mean? The Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) is composed of the Torah, Nevi'im (Prophets) and Ketuv'im (Writings--things like Psalms.) We like it? I don't know how to answer that, lol.

Are you referring to what we think of the Xian Bible? Yeah generally it's not worth anything to us. Even the translations of the Tanakh are terrible, and the NT--well, let's not get into that.

Peace

The tanakh (Torah nevi'im kesivim) are the only books written by prophets.
We believe that the Koran and the books that Christians added to 'their bible' and any scientific book are just a book that someone wrote and you have a choice to believe what that person wrote or you can treat it as just someones private opinion.

Luckily, the christian bible doesn't enter most Jewish homes, just the Torah does.

The "torah" (old testament) part of the Christian bible is essentially useless in their book -- except to promote the paganism of the Church and its foundational doctrines, since the Church has made so many, many, many changes to the letters, words, sentences, verses, and meanings there than what the original is.

Last time I checked, there were something like 30,000 changes in the king james version from what we have in our Torah.

So yeah, it's a piece of junk that would, if it could, defile our holy scriptures, except that we do not accept it, don't give it any attention whatsoever, and don't bring it into our homes, so it's irrelevant to us.

The consequences for the idolatry they have done with our holy scriptures for themselves is between them and God.

The jews are just like the christians, only on the opposite side of the pendlum. They carry thier bibles, but they do not follow them, they follow rather the traditions of the elders, & reject the tewachings of YAHWEH found in both volumes 1 & 2 of the BOOK OF YAHWEH! They also reject the SAVIOR YAHSHUA MESSIAH WHO GAVE IS LIFE SO THAT WE NIGHT BE PUCHASED BACK FROM OUR SINS OF THE PAST!!! On the other hand, the christian throws out the moral teachings of YAHWEH that are capable of converting them to salvation even as YAHSHUA was during HIS LIFETIME! YAHSHUA gave us the perfect exaple of how to live by the evey word, or the every law, that proceeds forth from our Heavenly Father YAHWEH'S MOUTH!!! HE did not come to do away with the LAW!!! christians did that with their false preaching! Only the HOUSE OF YAHWEH teaches YAHWEH'S LAWS & the LOVE OF OUR PRECIOUS SAVIOUR YAHSHUA MESSIAH!!! We do not earn our salvation by keeping the laws, we prove our love for the Father by keeping the laws! Obtain a BOOK OPF YAHWEH! I promise you, it will be the best money you have ever spent on ahyting in our life! It is the cloest thing to the true translation of the Hebrew scriptures translated into the English language that can be found on the earth!!!

Torah is the 5 books of Moses; the rest of what we call the Old Testament is the Tanakh. The New Testament is not part of their scripture at all. Most seem to just see Jesus as an observant Jew who got killed for being a troublemaker, but some see him as a teacher of mankind--for the Gentiles. If you want to really learn some insights into the Hebrew Scriptures, ask a Jewish person who studies Torah what they know or think. It will open up a new world for you.

They don't try to justify it, it's not their book. There are a lot of differences in how Jews and Christians translate/interpret the Torah... much of what Christians translate/interpret to be messianic prophecies that point to Jesus, in Jewish beliefs and translations, are not. The ones that, in Jewish beliefs and translations, are clear-cut messianic prophecies, have not been fulfilled. They believe God gave them the Torah and in it says it is his complete word and will never be changed or added to.

The Bible is the Christians holy book, particularly the NT, it just doesn't concern them, no more than the Book of Mormon would concern a Catholic or Protestant.

Obviously Jews don't ue the new testement, but the Torrah is not the all old testemnt only the first 5 books of the Bible. The people saying the Jews don't use any thing else would be just as accurate as calling the New testement the Gospels, which is to say not accurate.
They do use the history books like Kings and Chronicals the books pf the Prophits- Ezikial Isia Danial as well as the rest of what most would call the old testement. They also suplimient it with the Talmud which is a colection of wisdom from Rabbis of the ages.

Jews aren't trying to justify anything. The Catholics are responsible for putting the books together.

The parts of the Bible aside from the Torah are seen as fictional - Jews no more need to "justify" that than scientists seek to justify the creation story, or Buddhists seek to justify the Bible.

It's another, interesting, piece of writing from another faith - but it isn't held to be the true word of God.
