red ant bites

I found this on a website.

"The stings often leave a burning and itching sensation, usually followed by the formation of a white pustule. There will not always be a white postule. The bites may take up to several weeks to disappear."

The key word there is may, as it really does depend on your immune system and your bodys ability to produce antibodies to get rid of venom.

It seems looking at the picture provided on the page that after several weeks, although the bite area is still swollen it isn't overly red or possibly even painful.

it depends on how your body's histamines react to it and what you have done since the bite. definitely do not scratch it! put some tea tree oil (discontinue use if redness worsens or rash occurs) on the site to help disinfect it naturally. you can use topical anti-itch creams also. the mound of the bite might subside in 1-2 days with a general itch that lasts up to 5 days or so. try not to cover the area and definitely keep it clean. if you cannot find tea tree oil than you can use herbal salve from a natural medicine store. expect the site to look worse by the way on the following day. good luck.

i live in the south and get a few ant bites every summer and i usually pop the bubble the next day and the red spot is gone within three or four days. i hate the itch that there is initially but other than that they really aren't that bad. i'd much rather be bitten by an ant than by a mosquito.

I was bit 8-10 times ten years back. Most bites healed within a few weeks. Others took a couple years. I still have one bite that hasn't healed yet. I keep trying to dig out the posture. No luck yet.

how did that happen? i would think it will take a few days to go down just like any other ant bite.

It depends on the person but please make sure to check this site & read this page because it's not always a normal reaction it's also an allergic reaction. You may need different help than normal to make them go away. My mom was miserable for weeks because she didn't realize till much later she had a reaction. Hope this helps. It can take days or weeks. As long as you're not having an allergic reaction (swelling very large, trouble breathingg, hives, ect) then you're probably fine. (:
