A study was done by Runner's World magazine about this a few years ago. It was proven that you burn almost twice as many calories running as walking--the faster you go the more calories you burn for the distance you are going.

Walking is good for a speed of 4 MPH or lower. As you near 5 MPH, running becomes more energy efficient. But that is vice versa as well. If you run 4 Mph it is more efficient to walk. Understand? Now, it depends on if it is advantageous, depending on the speed you will go at. But you burn more calories running at any speed you run. Hope This Helps!

well you lose fat by walking, and gain muscle when running so if its weight you want off walking is better but running makes you burn 3 times the cals, but you might not lose much weight becasue of muscle gsain

walking and running the same distance means moving the same amount of weight the same distance so the calories expended are equal _BUT- because running gets you all fired up your body continues to burn calories at a slightly elevated rate even after you stop running. So running has a slight advantage in that regard. Walking is great because it is low-impact. The ideal would be to run if you can and also incorporate Lots of walking in your normal life activities.( (Walk for transportation whenever possible, don't hunt for close parking spaces, go for hikes, etc)
