Last night at new years eve i was standing in the dancefloor at an outdoors concert at 12am with my family and some friends watching the fireworks and bringing in the new year.
But for some reason, all i felt was sadness.
People were dancing happily and i was standing at the edge of the dance floor. Somehow the urge to dance and laugh dissapeared. I just wanted to go home.

I have been feeling this way for about 4 months, but last night it was so obvious.

What can i do.

get some help.
you need someone to tell you
that it is alright and that we all feel like dog doo doo.

It's life. Makes some goals and ignore the obvious. Life is what you give to it! and don't forget and when you do. It sucks like someone is tearing out your guts!

Been there done that and still doing it....on New Years Eve.

I checked your profile, and it says you're only 15. I think you are too young to be this depressed, but it could just be growing pains or the changes your body is going through hormonally. If you're not normally depressed, I'm thinking that how you feel is totally related to the new year's party you were at. Some people get overwhelmed by too much stimulus, and when they're in a large crowd with a lot going on around them they tend to feel invisible and alone and kind of withdraw. It's just a reaction to having too much going on around you to process. This happens to me sometimes, and for this reason I avoid huge crowds and long periods of loud noise. I think you're going to be fine.

You tell us that you were standing on the edge of the dance floor. That says that you were not joining in.

You were also sufficiently self aware to know that your joy had flown.

What do you think would have been happened had you caught someone's eye and smiled ? My advice to you is to re-join the party. You already know how it feels when you do.

No one can make us happy but ourselves. We are happy or sad because we allow ourselves to be.

My last question is, have you talked to anyone at home about it ?

Take a look at your lifestyle. Are you exercising regularly; getting adequate sunlight; eating fruits and vegetables, especially green, leafy ones? Do you spend at least some portion of your day doing something you truly enjoy? Is your life in line with your own sense of values and ethics?

You might just need to readjust some of your habits, or you might be confronting something fairly serious here. See a doctor about this. There's a number of medical issues that can cause feelings of sadness. Many are easily treatable; hypothyroid, seasonal affective disorder, etc.

if you have clinical depression, even just a diagnosis can help; you can outsmart the downward cycle of negative thinking by realizing that the sadness you feel now is due to body chemistry, and not because life is so awful, etc. Not feeding into it can really reduce the amount of suffering you feel.

Give yourself a few days...get involved with something
productive & fun! If you still feel sad, tell your parents and
ask them what they want you to do ( ask for a hug too)

That's weird, and you need to take care of that, really. Try spending more time doing things you love, with people you love. Maybe there's a burden that your carrying and you just need to let go of it. Try making a list of things you dislike, are wrong in your life, and are troubling you. Then try and find a solution so that each thing on the list isn't troubling you anymore. Hope you get happier... it's a great feeling!

Well have you just ended a relationship with someone? Maybe that's it. Or maybe it's because someone important to you died of went far away and you feel that you will never see them again. I had my special someone go away and it looks like ill never see him again. So maybe I can relate to you.
