According to the law enacted then, Christmas was not to be observed in any form or fashion. Violators were subject to a fine. Not only were Puritans in New England uncomfortable with celebrating Christmas but some groups in the middle colonies were also. Pennsylvania Quakers were as adamant as the Puritans in their view of the celebration.

Yeah, and I love the fact the Historical Revisionists point to them as our "Christian founders" when in fact we were still part of the UK.

The good that came out of it was Rev. Roger Williams realizing there was the need for separation of religion and government. So of course, he was kicked out and founded Providence, where the earliest ideals of what would become the USA were practiced.
