Not just people speaking to God, but God speaking back.

On the contrary, Pat Robertson claimed that God talked to him last year and said that a Tsunami would strike the Pacific Northwest in 2007.

He still has a few hours.

If God has never spoken to you than you obviously have not yet fully developed your conscience. Or maybe you just don't recognize his voice.

God speaking back? - thats what they call the "still small voice" these days.

If you're too loud you will miss it, and then you get told that your faith was not strong enough. So try again, pray some more, and believe really hard, and God WILL answer your prayer. (even if the answer is "not yet")

They build you up and cut you down so neatly you dont even know that they are doing it.

Now what was that joke I read - when you talk to God its called prayer, but when God speaks to you, its called SCHIZOPHRENIA.

I don't think He lost His voice. Maybe you are in a church that thinks the Holy Spirit went on vacation when the last apostle died. Try one that believes the word of God.

Well, in biblical times, when people spoke to God, it was THROUGH an angel. They wouldn't speak directly to him. Well, nowadays, since we have the whole Bible completed, it is just as good as God speaking to us. It gives us all the counsel He'd ever give, and we also have prayer. Back then, since the Bible was still being written, it was necessary for them to be inspired by God. The Bible, was, after all, inspired by Jehovah, therefore, at some point He had to direct the people He chose to write it, either through a vision, or speaking to them through an angel. =)
I hope that answers your question!

People do communicate w/ God these days. People just fail to recognize it.

there are a lot of us speaking to God. But I'm sure you ment God speaking to people right? Well, that's how it was done back then. Now God speaks through His Word and through other people. See...God is not outdated.

Because it never happened then either. Those are a conglomeration of old stories made up by sheep herders during the dark ages and passed on so many times people started believing them. They put them on clay tablets then in books in order to keep the bs straight between them.
