This is a horrible disorder, I have been off of steroids for 2 1/2 years now and have very few flare ups. Read, read and read and then find what works for you as everyone is different.
I drink a litre of green tea a day, I always have a handful of blueberries every day and a few walnuts. I try and have a tablespoon of flax seed oil everyday - I might pop this into a smoothie with yoghurt and my blueberries or I might put it over salad or veggies (it has a slight nutty flavour).
Decreasing red meat consumption and making sure you eat fish a couple times a week min.
I take a multi vitamin, vitamin e, chromium and folic acid everyday.
I have tried taking different herbs, but luckily I have found controlling it with food has been the easiest for me. Add lots of colour to your diet.
Good luck

This is a true story, I have heard testimonials that people that started taking the lifepak vitamin - the one that most suits their needs as they are synergystically formulated for age and gender, combined with the cartilage formula and Marine omega 3 - (if the Nano is not the applicable one as it has the marine omega in it), that people have shown actual improvement in less arthritic pain and some have even shown rebuilding of cartilage . I have not met these people just heard the testimonials through others. But as for myself I have put myself on the lifePak Woman and Marine omega 3 and after about three weeks I didn't have as stiff a feeling that I have had for about 18 years in the morning and more and more frequently throughout the day. Now after 6 months I'm pretty proud of how I hop out of bed in the morning compared to what it was like for me the last 8 years+. I have added the cartilage formula to my regimn recently to try to improve the cartilage in my back after hearing the stories, but it has only been a few days so I can't say anything for sure...but I do notice that I am less stiff and more refreshed since I started my vitamins in general, remebering that I have felt stiff and achy for years . I don't want those painful days back. Available at www.antioxidants.mypharmanex.com. I felt comfortable in going with these products because they are the first multivitamin product in the world to pass top three safety third party certification tests including Banned substance control group,NSF International, and ConsumerLab.com.They have also been listed as Best Choice Products for their Fish Oil products by the Environmental Defense Agency.

First you need a diagnosis, see a Rheumatologist. They will then devise a program of treatment, the latest biological treatment, PT and Occupational Therapy. Rheumatoid Arthritis needs specialized treatment, if you wish to remain mobile. The Rheumatologist will also suggest natural supplements to take. Good Luck
