Can a soldier keep his uniform both combat and formal dress, rifle and sidearm (decomissioned or not) and their helmet, knife, torch etc. In ww2 I know that officers were allowed to keep EVERYTHING they were issued including weapons(decommisioned) just wondering if it still stands.

No weapons are kept by any soldier when he leaves the forces,

All his kit including uniforms & equipment belongs to Her Majesty's Armed Forces and must be surrendered on completion of their contract, anything taken uniform wise as a sovineer is in effect stolen property.

What happen with regards Officers in WW2 of which many had bought their equipment, uniforms, even personnel weapons comes from a bygone age of class privalage.

No. The govt owns it. Civilians can't own guns in England except antiques.
