When I started taking vitamins from www.antioxidants.mypharmanex.com in less than two months it stopped happening for me-they are excellent products that have passed rigourous world anti doping tests and so on - with no added hidden ingredients etc.so I knew they were safe and are synergystically formulated for age and gender-(and my Doctor recommended them) and as for me I can say they work. I used to wake up at night in horriffic pain in my entire arm, haven't experienced that since about a month and a half into taking my vitamins which are the lifepak women.I also no longer experience my feet turning numb and I'm not as cold as I used to be, I was always cold - no matter the temperature...just in case you wanted to know....

I don't know where your wife got this from but, where does she think or, how, the bones grow, it's from calcium and potassium. This is probably what she's lacking. Fresh fruits and bananas will give her what she needs for potassium. After several days of this she should be having fewer bouts with this.
She may have the mysterious "Restless leg syndrome" this she would have to go to her doctor and make sure she hasn't PDF or, clotting in the leg arteries and, her veins are O.K. then the doctor can give her a script for "Requip" a mild drug that will control this.

WHEN it happens help your wife STAND up and put her feet flat. STAND that way until the pain goes away.
AS bad as it hurts...but DO it.
Maybe she can drink1 Powerade a day for a a few days to see if that helps. It is what I do. You can buy them in dry packets and she can carry them in her purse and just get water and our them in.

Yes, Have her stand with her hands flat on a wall and her feet away from the wall as far as she can go. Then she needs to act like she's doing push-ups. This will help exercises her calves. She should do this a few times a day. My mom does this and it helps her everytime. Good luck, and I hope she gets relief soon.
