Your automobile policy will not cover your personal property. You would have to file a claim against your homeowners/renters policy. Depending on the language in your policy - coverage may apply. The deductible will apply, however, most homeowners or renters policies are replacement cost on personal property.

An easy rule of thumb to determine if auto policy or homeowners policy - if you were to take the car and turn it upside down and shake it - if it falls out - then you file against your homeowners policy. Pocket book- falls out, (homeowners), in dash cd player does not (auto)

If you have medical payments coverage - it may help with the glasses if they are prescription glasses and were on her face at the time they were damaged (IE- air bag deployed and broke them while she was wearing them). This is kind of iffy - it really depends on the language in your policy. You can ask the adjuster handling your claim about this.

If another person hit you and is at fault for the accident - they will pay the depreciated value of the items. They will not pay replacement cost.

Personal property such as glasses watches and jewelry would be covered under your homeowners(home, renters, condo) policy. CD ect. are tricky with companies now and when in a car there may not be coverage for them. If your car was vandalized to get the items you would have to open 2 claims but if you have the same company for both items you may only have to pay the highest deductible. Contact your insurance agent to find out.

Only property insurance. Not auto insurance.

Your auto insurance policy should cover your personal items. When my daughter totaled our car, they replaced her laptop with a brand new one. This was from our auto coverage, not out homeowners. Call your agent, depends on your policy coverage. We have Country Insurance and it is great
