Human beings have the capabilities for advancement, development and adaptability. We aspire to more than simply living. We create language, literature, entertainment and explore maths and sciences among other things. But any species that has the abilities that we have also sacrifices the type of perfection other animals have. Other animals eat, sleep, mate and little more. It is hard to go wrong with such a life. Humans, in the past and in the present, have often hurt the environment, hurt "lesser" organisms, and hurt other humans while attempting to progress. That doesn't mean humans are wrong, that they're greedy, and certainly not that they're illiterate (most of the time). It means they're flawed and troubled and are working out the kinks who they are. They're trying, and, in my opinion, are getting better at cooperating with the rest of existence.

I quite understand the cat replies since I have one, but aren't dogs usually greedy for attention from man?
