I have secretly been meeting my biological adult son for months now. He is very stressed as his adoptive mother is by nature a very cold, bitter, angry person and has tantrums when he even mentions anything about me, I've not pushed the issue , and been very supportive to him and don't say anything negative about his adoptive mother but it's killing me to see him stressed, what else can I do? I'm so afraid we are going to get caught and I'm sure there will be a scene.

Yikes, that's rough. She must feel threatened that he'll abandon her for you. Maybe he should just sit her down and tell her he's been "seeing" you. Let her know that he puts her first, not you. Better for her to hear it from him that find out...that'll be REALLY ugly...

If your son is an adult, then he needs to set some boundaries with his mom -- or even move into his own place. You didn't mention his age.

His adoptive mother sounds like a real loony tunes...

Yes it "kills us" to see those we care for stressed, but adults need to take care of their own problems. We can't fix others.

Take care.

This is only one side of the story. Your negative feelings about the adoptive mother are probably magnified because you envy that she was able to raise the son you had to give up.

Well he's an adult so he can do as he pleases. I think you should suggest he go into counseling that possibly involves his adoptive mother and eventually you as well so you all can work through this issue and all have a nurturing relationship with your son. He should not have to choice between the two of you or keep one a secret from the other.
