Hello, I am married and my plan is to file my income taxes "married filing jointly" can I legally claim my wife as a dependent along with my child? (for a total of 2 dependents)?

Thanks to all

A spouse is never claimed as a dependent. On a joint return though, you'll get three personal exemptions, for you, your wife and your child. Your standard deduction will be $10,700, twice the individual amount, because you get it for you and for your wife.

Yes, for you it may be the best option to file as Married Filing Jointly. Then you get one extra exemption deduction of $3,400 and one extra standard deduction of $5,350. Thus your total deductions (if you don't itemize) are $17,500.
Plus you will get 1 more exemption of $3,400 for your child.

Although she is not tecnically a dependent, you will still get the personal exemption for her. I thin that was actually the purpose of your question.

filing "married filing jointly" means two people filing together , you don "t get to add her name in the dependent section.
