give her good reasons why you need one. Not just text messaging but the important things. If your somewhere and nobody is around and no phones are there either then u need a phone just tell her exactly why or just wait until your older and she can't tell you nothin! (kanye west)

Maybe she can't afford it or thinks she can't. Plus the phone companies actively try to trick you into running up huge bills with text messaging and internet access. A guy in Canada recently ended up with an $85,000 cell phone bill that way. Stories like that may scare her. They do me.
So, yes, tell her that you need one because then you can always reach her and she you, but also do some research on how much it might cost and how to avoid being tricked into paying more. (That may mean suggesting to her to block text messaging and internet capabilities on your phone.) That might show her that you are really serious about being responsible with it.

Why don't you get a job and pay for one yourself. Get a prepaid phone, pay for it outright, and then just pay the credit yourself. Then you can only use what you have, and your mother can't complain.
Your mum probably doesn't want to spend money on something as expensive as a phone. She also probably doesn't want to be responsible for the bills, which as an adult in charge of a minor, she will ultimately be responsible for. If you get a prepaid phone, she won't need to worry about you running up bills.
Get a job and pay for it yourself. That will show you are responsible.
I strongly doubt that you actually *need* a mobile phone. How old are you anyway?

I was truly against them myself for teens.Considering, todays times I think its vital for parents to know our children's whereabouts at all time and cellphones does make that possible.Depends on your age and how responsible I imagine would b the correct answer. I would try and b responsible and show your mother u do have the potential to own a cell phone.Perhaps, ask mom what would she request and rules about u having cellphone. Try to see her point of view she, is only looking out for your best interest..
