I don't know what to believe anymore. I am very confused. I used to be a christian and i loved God and wanted to please him in everything i do,but now i mean i am confused and worried and just i don't know. I mean i think back on my life and i wounder to myself why would God let me go through all of this at such a very young age of 13. I also read that question that said God doesn't love all of us and doesn't want all of us. That made me even more confused. Does God really care. Is God real? Does he love me and want a relationship. I really don't know what to do or believe or anything. Also at church i look around and i see all these people raising hands and worship and u can see that they have a real and true relationship with God. I want that but i just don't know how to get that and i don't know if that i am going to worship for the right reason or worshiping a true person. Can u please help me? Thanks!!!
-Megan

It's good that you are questioning your faith - I question why all these people are raising their hands, when members of their congregation are confused?

Too much emotion, not enough understanding?

Have you received the Holy Spirit like all of Jesus' disciples?:-
"they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."? (Acts 2:4)

Once you have received Him, he will lead you into all truth if you let him. Then you can have a 2-way relationship with God 24/7, which is what he wants!

You aren't too young for this, I've known children of 5 get it.

I'm really sorry to hear you're having a rough time.

I am not saying I have the answer, but here's what happened to me. I hope it helps.

I used to believe in John Calvin's teaching, that God chooses people to save and chooses to destroy others. I thought that I was put on earth to be miserable. I was having a lot of huge problems in my life (I still am not on easy street) and decided to kill myself.

I had begged God to be merciful and kill me but that hadn't happened. I decided I was gonna go home and drink a poisonous chemical I found and take a really long nap.

I just happened to go by the local Greek Orthodox Parish on my way out of town and decided to swing by randomly. I had been curious about it a few years before but had done nothing. I studied Orthodoxy for weeks. I decided I had to join it and went to talk to the priest there. I was really nervous because I had never talked to a priest before and didn't know what they are like. The priest was very nice and the most comforting person to talk to that I had met maybe ever in my life.

The Orthodox Church is the first place where i really sensed the presence of God. It is the first place where I Felt close to Him.

After a year of catechism, I joined the Orthodox Church. I wouldn't trade it for anything, not even a place to live or lots of money. My problems didn't all go away, but I have hope, which is something I didn't have before.

If I had a lot of serious questions, I would go find an Orthodox Priest and talk to him.

I hope this helps.

Atheism is the way to go. It's just a jump to the left.

And we're not at all evil. Many atheists were deeply religious before they finally saw the light.

Megan, please be careful with any advice you receive here as there are many more confused than you. Sometimes things go wrong for no apparent reason. It doesn't mean that there isn't a God or that He doesn't love you. Hezekiah was one of the more righteous kings of Judah yet he found himself on his deathbed, surrounded by Senacheribs army and no heir to take the throne after him. He prayed and his life was extended 15 more years. In a single night an angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Assyrians and Jerusalem was spared. A few years later he had a son. Read your Bible and pray. Ask God to help you overcome your confusion.

I want to quote to you what the wisest man I know (a good friend and a wonderful priest) wrote to me when I was having a problem understanding how God could love me, and about stuff that's happened to me in my life. Here's what he wrote:

"GOD DOES NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING THAT HE DOES NOT WANT TO. AND WHAT HE LETS HAPPEN, EVEN BY HIS PERMISSIVE WILL, IT IS ALWAYS AN ACT OF LOVE, DIVINE LOVE, WITHOUT CONDITION OR POSSIBILITY OF THE SLIGHTEST MISTAKE. GOD IS LOVE. ONLY LOVE CAN COME OUT OF HIM."

Keeping those words in mind, let me try to go through your question a little at a time.

"i loved God and wanted to please him in everything i do" -- Do you realize that just by wanting to please Him, that you do, even when you fail? God loves you so much, and all He wants is our love in return.

"i wounder to myself why would God let me go through all of this at such a very young age of 13" -- There must be something so very special about you that God doesn't even want to wait until you're fully grown up for you to find Him and have that deep personal relationship with Him. He's calling to You now, at that young age. Wow!

"I also read that question that said God doesn't love all of us and doesn't want all of us." -- Again: "GOD DOES NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING THAT HE DOES NOT WANT TO. AND WHAT HE LETS HAPPEN, EVEN BY HIS PERMISSIVE WILL, IT IS ALWAYS AN ACT OF LOVE, DIVINE LOVE, WITHOUT CONDITION OR POSSIBILITY OF THE SLIGHTEST MISTAKE. GOD IS LOVE. ONLY LOVE CAN COME OUT OF HIM." No one forced God to make you. No one can force God to do anything. God made you because He wanted to. He made you because He loves you. He loves you because He made you. The person who wrote that God doesn't love all of us and doesn't want all of us is either very mistaken in his or her beliefs, or is simply an idiot.

God really cares. He really cares about you. And yes, He is real... very, very real. And He loves you very, very much. And He wants to have a relationship with you.

Get to know Him better. How? Well, how do you get to know anyone? You talk to them. Talk to Him. You don't have to be all formal like during a church service. Just talk to Him about anything you want. Talk to Him like He's your very Best Friend, because that is Who He really is. If it helps, close your eyes and imagine Jesus sitting in a chair next to you, and talk to Him. When you do that enough, and you get to know Him better, that's when the worshipping comes. I mean, it's not even normal to want to worship someone you don't know, is it? No. Of course not. The more you get to know Him, and the more you grow in love with Him, the worship and love will come. And don't worry if it takes a little time. You're only 13 and Jesus knows how old you are because He made you!

And He loves you. He always has loved you. He died to for you to prove how much He loves you. He will always love you... He won't ever stop.

The people who say that God doesn't love everyone haven't got a clue. Don't worry about that.

As far as not feeling a real and true connection with God during worship, you probably just haven't found the appropriate way to worship for you yet...you're only 13, you'll figure it out.

If you really want an answer, you have to search for it.
God/Jesus won't FIND you.
You have to find truth. Don't wait.
Look how waiting ended up.

Take life into your own hands and you'll be happier.

For instance, if you had a job and prayed for a raise instead of actually earning a raise, do you think praying would help?

If you have nothing to have a backup on, you'll be happier when you realize you've done all of these things yourself.

Good luck!

Have you repented and been baptised for the remission of your sins? Do you know all about the life of Jesus and how he died for you...You don't mention the name of Jesus and that concerns me. Here is a great place to start the year,,it has bible lessons for you for each day...if you will follow along with them,,I think a lot of your questions will be answered....you have to get to know a person to have a relationship with them...it is the same with Jesus...these lessons will help you or anyone seeking to know him better....mute the music or it will drive you nuts!....Happy New Year to you....
