Hi Emma...your kitten is developing her hunting instincts which involves biting and scratching. Cats learn to fear who is reprimanding them so it's best to avoid this to help her develop into a perfectly well behaved cat later on. Cats thrive on attention therefore depriving of this while she's misbehaving will help her learn that she only gains your attention when she is on her best behaviour. Be sure to shower with a lot of attention when she isn't misbehaving and she will soon recognize that scratching and biting are not rewarding. Here are a couple websites which you may find very helpful to discourage the biting and scratching:

it could be 2 things 1 she could teething or 2 some times cats and kittens do that so she might stop if you get a scratching post.

Why do people with no understanding of cats bother to get one???

A kitten does this and it is NORMAL!! Watch a bunch of kittens when they are together... they pummel each other, thump, bite, roll and scratch.. it is their normal development.

If she is hit for being normal then that would be the equivalent of hitting you for talking or breathing. Don't do this.

You and your boyfriend are way bigger than the wee kitten... grow up.

This kitten can be isolated by your refusing to touch her when she is too rowdy... but get toys for her that she can mug. You have the string or what ever you are playing with her with and hold it out at arms length.

Play nicely with her. In time she will grow into a slowed down kitty cat that you will love.

She is the equivalent of a teenager now... she is going to be just as full of beans as your average nuisance teen.

Be nice to her and let her grow. You need to learn more about cats and a lot of patience.

If all else fails, visit a vet who can advise you of behavioural ways to modify the kitten's rough-house ways.

Cheers

Lisa

She's just playing. She'll grow out of it. In the meantime try using toys to distract her from the biting. Get one of those kitty fishing pole toys. They have a toy and feathers hanging from a string on a fishing pole or stick. Kitties love to jump and bite these toys when you jiggle them.

Well, if she's scrathing you and your boyfriend, try not to show pain. Sometime, she should get bored, or, whatever. Well, if that doesn't work, then stroke the cat whenever she looks like she's about to scratch you. I'm sorry, I hope it works though.

Need to get her some toys. When she starts biting and scratching you and your b/f she is ready to play. Get her some good toys like those little mouse's with the catnip in it. They are just wanting attention.
