I had to board my cat at the vet for two weeks while I was away. She just got home today, and she's being very shy. She is generally a very laid-back, sweet, affectionate cat. She was super hyper when she first got home, running around the apartment. But she acts like she doesn't even know me. I know it will take time for her to get back into the swing of things, but do you think it's possible that she doesn't remember me? I've had her for about 4 months. I just ask because I don't have a lot of experience with cats, and we've never been apart like this.

Of course she remembers you! She is just excited to be home, running around to check and make sure everything is still where she left it. She is fine. She loves you. She may be mad at you for leaving her for two weeks with the kennel. But she will be ok in a couple of days. Keep talking to her and she will start responding! Cats are funny people. When you didn't come back for her after the first couple of days it probably scared the kitty cat crap out of her. And now she is just paying you back by ignoring you or running from you. We brought a new kitten home from the rescue and my oldest cat ran away for over a week. I was devastated. But then one night she came home and her eyes were so big and you could tell she was very sorry. I fed her and said "lets go to bed" and she climbed the stairs and got in bed like nothing had ever happened. Give it time. I know it will be alright.

Good luck!

When you leave a cat and a dog in a boarding situation for a few weeks this will happen:

the dog will lavish you attention thnking you for returning.

the cat will punish you in the hope that you will never go away again.

So the fact that your cat is acting like this proves he/she remembers you.

don't stress, everything will be fine in a week or less.

I have a feeling your cat is a little upset you left her for a few weeks. But i think she is just excited to be home. I think everything will be back to normal in a couple of days. :)

I think that she remembers you. But you have to see things from kitty's point of view, the vet clinic where you boarded her, her rides back and forth put stress on a cat, give her a few days some special treats and extra love and attention and she will be back purring in your lap in no time!!:)

I think she should. I got my first cat when she was just a kitten, but could only keep her for a few months (not even four) before we had to give her away because our apartment no longer allowed pets. Then one day, about six or seven months later, I left our front door open and when I went back inside there she was, sitting on our couch like no time had passed! And we knew it was her because she still answers to her old name. (Mickey)

I think she would remember you, even after only 4 months, but she may think she was being punished by being sent away from you and is uncertain about how you will be towards her now. She may think, in her kitty way, that the way she behaved caused you to send her away. In time she'll settle down if you don't keep taking off! My cat gives me "the cold shoulder" if I upset her. Good luck, they are adorable creatures.

Your cat remembers you, and will always remember you.
She'll come around, she's just glad to be home.
