I'm making pan-fried pork chops with gravy, stuffing, steamed broccoli and homemade applesauce (made with cinnamon red hots instead of sugar so it's a pretty pink!) and honey wheat rolls. And then more Christmas cookies for dessert.
Normally I make pork roast with sauerkraut, carrots and mashed potatoes. But we decided to be a little different this year.
On New Year's Day, eat pork so you'll live high on the hog all year long. Avoid chicken or you'll be scratching for a living!

Sweet potatoes, peeled and boiled, maybe candied with brown sugar or marshmallow fluff.
Don't know what else.

Wow! I'm looking for something to cook too. I was thinking of frying some perch and pierogies, they say to eat a rich meal on the fist day of the year. So I figure it will either be rich in calories, or else steak and baked potatoes. Sorry, I'm trying to keep it simple for the new year. I'm not trying to over do it and be able to enjoy my company when they come over.

A southern luck thing
Black eyed peas and ham
6 cans of beans
1 half onion chopped
1 ham hock
Dash salt
Dump everything into a crock pot and cook on high for 4-6 hours.
Serve with cornbread and cole slaw
(I totally cheat you can do it with dry beans too on the stove top...but, I totally cheat)
