Hello, being a nanny is a very rewarding job. If you get with the right family you can make quite a bit of money and gain a 2nd family. I take care of 1 child. I pick her up from preschool at 12, take her home and feed her lunch then it is time for a short nap. After the nap we go play. Either to the park, zoo, museum, playdates, movies...or stay home and play. Sometimes I start dinner for her parents, who both work full-time and her mom that goes to school full-time as well. I clean up after us, not clean the entire house. If I am cleaning the house all the time who is taking care of the child? Most people think that the nanny is raising the child that isn't true. The nanny is helping in raising the child. I think that having a nanny is much better than putting your child in daycare where they don't get that one-on-one attention and love. The child i care for knows i love her and I wat the best for her. The parents are wonderful too. if you negotiate your contract well, you can get sick and holiday pay, gas reimbersment, money for outings, food reimbersment, and lots more. Also if you wanted to go to school while you work depending on your hours you can go part-time...plus working for most families you can get weekends off. I work about 35 hours a week, so i also go to school. I think that this is one of the best jobs out there. Good luck in your decision. i hope this helps...Feel free to ask me any questions you like

A nanny is essentially a babysitter, with a bit of cook, housekeeper, and private tutor mixed in. That is why they command much higher salaries. We are not just babysitting kids and wiping their butts. I introduce lots of educational activities. I coordinate learning actives and activities outside the house (parks, museums, zoo).

My mom is a nanny. It is like a babysitter that takes cares of kids and pets, she also cleans up. She doesn't clean the whole house, but she cleans up after she feeds the baby or something. They are able to do their regular thing, due to the parents. My mom still picks me up from school etc. She takes care of one baby, but the parents are thinking of having more. She works a full day from before i go to school ( I go in the morning with her) until 3:30 ( I go to the child's house after school and before school everyday. The mother is a teacher, father is a carpenter. She stays until one of them get home. It's fun acuttally. I wonder why you ask.

A nanny has a standing agreement with the family and they become a large part of the life surrounding the child. They have a regular work schedule, regular duties, and are collaborative with the parents on the tactics being used to raise the children. Nannies spend lots of time with the kids involved and they are NOT simply babysitters who clean the house...they help the whole system run smoothly and make it so the child feels safe and secure in their home and with their different caregivers...a babysitter pops gum and lets the kids watch movies while parents go out to dinner and movie.

They are like a surrogate parent. They basically raise the child, take them to their play dates, doctor appointments, etc. Everything a parent should do, but can't due to work. I have been a nanny for a couple of years now and I spend more time with the kids than their parents do.

That's pretty much it. A nanny is more of a regular babysitter. Like they either live in the house or work like everyday 9-5 or something.
