You don't need to do anything, in fact its best to let the courts and social services handle it. The courts will contact who he says his employer is and they will garnish his wages using his social security number and will soon find out that its bogus if it is. If he did lie he is just making himself look bad!
Good luck!

Unfortunately, the baby does NOT get every dime as deserving (I write this for those with similar opinions like "Jello"). It takes two. Having willfully supported my children from a divorce over 20 years ago, I believe child support is just that ... "SUPPORT FOR THE CHILD".
In this country, children are often "used as pawns" by sometimes spiteful, often immature, and commonly "self-centered" females that do not always have the best interest of the child in mind. Many times, children become a "trump card" to financial income for lazy and pathetic "mothers". Let's hear BOTH sides, not just one and be "balanced. I hate the idea that there are "males" that are irresponsible, but "IT TAKES TWO".
This is unfortunate ... the court system is designed to not burden the tax-payer by hunting "dead-beat fathers" --- this is good (which I totally agree), but they do absolutely NOTHING for going after an irresponsible "mother" how is awarded child support for a child, and the child is neglected, not fed nutritional meals, etc ...
My point: there are just as many pathetic excuses: "dead-beat mothers" as there are fathers, they just hide behind their own children.

The courts will find out if it is real or not. You need to try to have them garnish his wages. They can do a check on his S.S # and find out if he even has a job right now. Most states garnish right out of the parent's paychecks to cut back on the amount of deadbeats. My sister divorced here in Wash state 1 1/2 years ago and that's what they are doing here now.

I believe he will need to produce check stubs or income tax records to the courts. They will then determine what amount he can pay.
