Mineral oil is a petroleum based product and is used as a lubricant type laxitive. Mineral oil clogs your pores and stays in them for a very long tiime. ( Some say forever ) Mineral oil does interfere with the absorption of some vitamins and minerals including, Beta-carotene, Calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K. If you take a multivitamin with minerals you should take it 2 hours either before or after the mineral oil to ensure absorption. Anyone who has problems swallowing may want to avoid using mineral oil as it can seep into the lungs and cause pneumonia. I would never use baby oil/mineral oil on a baby or myself. I have acne prone skin also and I use emu oil and wheat germ oil. They don't clog pores, they moisturize and heal.

RE:
Johnson's Baby Oil vs Regular Lotions?
There was an ad in a magazine that said if you applied the Johnson's baby oil on while wet when you get out of the shower it locks in 10 times more moisture than just using regular lotion. Im thinking about taking their 10 day challenge.
Right now I use Aveeno positively radiant body lotion...

Let me see if I can help. The ad is technically correct, but not totally. Yes, if you apply the oil over the skin after a shower it will hold the 10 times more than just a cream. However, the same will happen if you apply the cream over a skin just out of the shower and will last longer because most also contain waxes which act as the oils but do not have such an oily feel.
As for the Arbonne expert, I'm afraid this person knows nothing about what they are talking about. Mineral oil is NOT a carcinogin nor is it comedogenic. It also costs more than .50 cents a gallon.
If this expert wants to disagree with me they are more than welcome to post their creditable substantiation studies and reports and I will as well.
The bottom line is any oil, cream or lotion will give you similar effects when applied to skin which has already been fully hydrated (as in taking a shower or bathing).

Do not use mineral based products on acne prone skin.
Mineral oil can be quite helpful for dry skin IF you use it right after a bath where you are locking In the moisture.
Even then, I am careful with it because some find it to be an irritant.
A health food store should carry nut oils which are very beneficial to your skin.
I've had a number of older woman (depression era) recommend olive oil. A few are Mediteranean (sp) and have said it works for everything from a dry scalp to dry skin.
Make sure you are drinking your water during the day and eating right, as that can really help your skin as well.

I have sensitive skin as well and I LOOOOVE Johnson's Baby Oil Gel. The one with the green cap - I think it's Vit. E or something. It's my little secret, I always use it right after I shower to capture more moisture than use a very small amount of my regular scented lotion, my boyfriend always comments about how soft I am. Try it!
p.s.- I use Aveeno as well, but only on my face.

I wouldn't use either. Invest in products by Arbonne, or go to a health food store and get a moisturizer that doesn't contain mineral oil (it also goes by the word petrolatum.) This stuff is so bad for you that it's a disgrace. It's a known carcinogen, and it clogs the pores and plasticizes the skin. But cosmetics are not regulated by the FDA. Manufacturers buy it for 50 cents a gallon, and charge you 5 dollars for a jar that is mostly made of this crap. Even the most sophisticated cosmetic companies use it and charge you a bundle all the while thinking the consumer is too stupid to figure it out. Get smart and take care of yourself, because no one else will.

I've heard of baby oil also but it sometimes leaves like a little bit of an oil residue, so it does work but it makes your skin kinda slimmy for a while. Maybe I was using the wrong brand?

Good question.
It is because oil blocks the moist skin which helps the skin keeping soft after the shower, on the the other hand moisturiser is absorbed as it has water in it and as a result it softens the skin for some time.
FYI: No oil should not clog you skin as long as you keep it clean or wash it every day.
** Oil can absorb the dust which can result in clog or if you sweat and don't wash after.
