Which of these are better? Is it worth getting the more expensive one?

If i went with the cheaper one, the wharfedale, would the sound still be effective?
Also, does the phillips only have a better watt because there are more speakers?

Both are underpowered so I would say definately get the bigger one. It will make everything sound better since there is more power headroom. Wharfdale has been making good speakers for many years. I'd love to hear this (the better) system but I've not seen it sold in the US.

If you want the quality, go for the Wharfedale system, even though it has less power. Wharfedale has an excellent reputation for making good sounding speakers, and no doubt the DVD mechanism will be good quality too.
But if you want sheer power output then the Philips has bigger wattages - though not really enough to shake any rooms...! For that you'd need a separates system set up.
Don't forget too, that although Argos offer a 16-day money back guarantee, it only applies if the goods have not been opened and are returned in unopened, unused and undamaged packaging. Very unlikely with electronic goods where everything is in sealed plastic! And of course these systems might be excluded anyway.
