Our 11 month old spaniel regular for the the last month has been acting as if she is hiding things like treats and food. Give her a treat and she will get on the bed or couch and act like she is trying to cover it over. she uses her nose to push imagineary something over this until it is buried and we act like we do not see it. Why has she started doing this? Hiding from her 15 year old sister? Never had one to do this before and have had several.

maybe she doesn't want anyone to take it? it doesn't hurt anyone, it is just a little thing she likes to do.

It is just a new thing your dog has learned! Many times pet owners are amazed at their dogs complete turn a round behavior after they are out of the puppy stage! Dogs do not stop growing when they turn one year old! They are juveniles and they are still learning new things! Sounds real cute what your dog is doing!

normal dog behavior...if you want to encourage this you can get her a sand/dirt box and put it on a floor you won't have any problems sweeping - it's always funny to watch what they hide! One of our dogs loved buring waffles and digging them up hours later to eat.

Sounds like she's responding to some ancient instinct. Like all other animals dogs are individuals, never had one do it before... never had a dog that felt it had to.
