Today our family found out that my aunt has cancer. The type of cancer is still being determined... but whatever it is is really bad. She has a 3 and a half inch tumor in her lung and there is stuff floating in her pancreus and they are doing a cat scan because there may be something in her brain. I'm a believer in Christ. I love Jesus with all my heart. I believe God exists. My question is really for other believers. Why would God let this happen... especially right before we enter a new year. A chance to have a fresh start. I'm not angry with God, because I believe things like this happen for a reason. They have a purpose. I believe God will get his glory from this. Buy why now? Why does she have to start of this new year with this news?? It just sucks. I'm trying to have faith in God. I feel in my heart that He let this happen for a purpose. I only wish I knew why. If any non-believers answer or comment... all I ask is that you don't disrespect. Don't disrespect my God or me. Thanks

I don't believe she is abandoned. And she doesn't either. God is there. He is there beside her. I was reading in the book of Job and God let Satan test Job. Satan believed Job would fall to God and leave God. But God had faith in Job. He belived Job would still stand by him. So Job suffered the lose of 4 children. And never lost site of God. In the end Job was blessed with double the amount of children. Go will find his glory. My family and I will stand by God. We will not let Satan defeat us.

I know this is NOT the worst thing to ever happen. It was a question to see if anyone had words to say why things like this or even holocausts happen.

Do not worry. I will not lose my faith.
I will walk by faith. Thanks for the answers.
There really is know "good" time to recieve news like this. I pray that this was found in time to heal it. They are flying out to Houston, Texas soon... apparently they're REALLY good with the cancer stuff.
I hope I can teach my family something from this experience... no matter what the outcome. I want to make sure my family has the faith... because my faith grows more and more everyday!
Once again, I really appriciate the responses and the people who will pray. Prayer is sooo powerful.

i know this is easy to say from my chair, because i'm not going through what you're experiencing right now. but this is it - John 14:12-13 Jesus says "Whoever believes in me will perform the same works as i do myself, and will perform even greater works, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that my Father may be glorified." It is natural in this situation to wonder why God would let this happen to your aunt. but from that scripture, it is evident that you have the power to do something about it. Stand on God's word, and in the name of Jesus, ask in faith for healing for your aunt. Do not doubt that she can be healed like this....only have faith...only believe. I suggest that maybe you could call together your family and some friends, and hold a day or two of intense prayer for your aunt, lay your hands on her, call down the power of the Holy Spirit, and in Jesus' name, ask for miraculous healing. i know all of this is easy for me to say, but it's more than worth a try. you mentioned that you are a believer in Christ.....so too, you are a believer in his word. stand on his word, have faith, and ask for this healing. all the same, also ask for the grace and peace to accept whatever God's will is for your aunt. i hope all things work out well. Peace.

Say with God honey, we don't know His ways but there is a reason for this. Also, it iould just be her time honey. You just don't know who may accept God from this. We just don't know the reasons, but ,something will come out of this for the good. Maybe not for you, but someone may really benefit from your aunt's illness. I've had cancer twice and beat it both times. If your aunt is a Christian ,then she will be with Jesus if things go bad for her. I know you will be very hurt but, know that God is in control. When loved ones go home they are so happy to be with Jesus, but, we're the ones that miss them. If the tumor is that big then she's had it for years and years. Mine was the size of a quarter and they said it had been growing for at least 5 years.Perhaps they will be able to remove the lung, or the tumor. I pray all goes well for her and the family ,will be in my prayers.May God give each of you the strength to get thru this and may the peace of God cover you. God Bless you and keep the faith and God will see you thru.

Is she a vegetarian. 4,000 studies how that fruits and vegetables prevent cancer. Does God make people fat? See this study (with 500,000 people) showing eating meat causes cancer. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22199057/?GT1=10645
The Protestant bible (New International Version) says "All the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." (Revelation 22:2) The Catholic bible (The New American Bible) says "the leaves of the trees serve as medicine for the nations." (Revelations 22:2) See site below about a leaf that cures cancer.
All the cancer causing things are man made.

Cancer just happens out of no where. Even when there is no family history of it. It's just a terrible disease that happens to all life forms. It's random......it happens.
I'm sorry for your aunt. But maybe the doctors caught it in time and with chemo and radiation treatments it will give her a little more time to spend with family.

My cousin lost her 4 daughter to cancer. An even greater loss ( in my opinion ) is that my cousin also lost her faith. She has never been back to Church in over a decade. While I can be cavalier in some of my responses to the questions asked here please believe me when I say I hope the issues with your aunt don’t cause you to lose faith.

Be brave and pray for her. I wish her the best but if she dies then she will go to a better place (heaven) if she is a beliver, if not then try to save her before it is too late (that doesn't mean she will surely die now)

Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Suffering brings many attributes to people that would not be there if you didnt go through them. Life is full of experiences. If we didnt experience life, then we all would be the same, as those experiences bring forth your character. Im sorry to hear of your aunt, but be content that God has His healing hand over her.

It is often said the God works in mysterious ways. This is one of those times. Understand that simplicity is not always the best teacher. We all hope for an easy comfortable life but some lessons are better learned through hardship.
It is never easy to watch, especially if it is someone that we care for. Trust that God loves you aunt dearly and that He is more concerned with her spiritual growth than any thing else. If you truly understand this you can see that this can actually be a gift of incalculable worth.
Love and blessings Don
